I got hit with it too! Pissed me the fuck off...My laptop now resides in the dumpster in no less than 3 large pieces and hundreds of little ones...

Figured, I rarely use this POS, Don't have anything on it that can't be replaced...

Not my most expensive one. That is one of my biggest faults. If something doesn't work or stops working, depending on my mood, I will usually destroy it with extreme prejudice...

Is it your only computer? I got hit, and used my iPad to google the fix, and was back up in about 10 minutes.

His would not boot into Safemode/SMwN/SMwCP, at all. It took a bootable environment w/cleanup util to get it killed.

Most of the time with this malware you only have to remove from the network/Internet and it will boot into windows where you can clean it. Typically it will not allow task manager to run so I copy it to the desktop and rename to iexplore.exe and it will run. Right click on the processes, open file location, end task and delete the file. Reboot and it should be gone.....

Man, I wish this one was that easy. It was a variant I've yet to have dealt with having different obfuscated names and locations of the offending files.

Yep, I had to do the same thing with my father in law's system.

The iexplore rename trick did nothing.

Those a-holes are making it harder to get around their crap.

Told my in-law to stop looking at the pron.... lol
