used would probably be your best bet.
the taurus pt1911 is pretty good especially when it retailed for $550 new. not sure how much they are asking now. personally i'd rather have it over a rock island.
$700 springfields are a little too lacking.

So, my growing collection is missing a 1911. Kimber will not be considered.
Want: reliable, cheap, well functioning and quality.
Don't wan't: expensive, too many options and blah blah blah...
Just looking for a decent 1911 I can enjoy and not get all into modifying because it sucks out of the box even though I didn't spend a fortune!
did any of that make sense....?
basically, need opinions on 1911's that are nice but won't break the bank...maybe even a good used one.
