I doubt it, and if what you say about being a CT is true our paths may have crossed during the 10 years I serve. I was not a CT, but often times we hauled CTs where they needed to be in order to do their job.

I actually agree with your contention the AK is a more reliable rifle than the AR, but all the AR or M16 variant problems I have ever seen were due to magazines or ammo not the rifle.

It still isn't a better survival weapon though. It is a better mass war weapon though as anyone can operate one. Just look at the Middle East and Africa.

I did a job that about 100 guys in the service are actually qualified to do at any given time. I liked the job, but I'd be lying if I said I liked the way the government runs much of anything especially anymore.

If the AR is so great, why the need for different uppers?

Modularity is one of the reasons the AR is a better survival weapon. You have more choices and options open to you.
