You can never fully prepare for WTSHTF. Otherwise it would be easy. What if you get separated from your cleaning supplies.

Yeah kinda did. I love both rifles. They have their purposes and saying either is a pos is just not the case. They are both great rifles. It is why so many debate which they like best.

If that's the case, then you weren't prepared for the SHTF. It is a superior round in terms of stopping power, and that is all.

what is more prevalent in 7.62x39? brass or steel? ding ding ding, steel. what is cheaper? you guessed it. who really cares? if SHTF are you going to be throwing all your ammo in a lake for later use? yeah probably not.

i'll take as many spam cans of that steel cased junk as i can get, store it away from the lake and sit back and sip my koolaid and eat my crackers while everyone else goes bat shit crazy debating which gun they should grab and which will be more reliable after 15k rounds without a simple field strip.

do you seriously think your going to be coming under constant fire? are you going to have a meth lab running 24/7 so you can avoid sleep? if you have time to sleep you have time to clean a fucking firearm. this isnt vietnam or the eastern front.

You asked why you would shoot steel in a survival circumstance. The answer is the gun is designed to use steel. Whether an AR shoots .223 or 5.56 it doesn't have any comparison, both brass.
