M16/AR15 Magwell

I suppose that's why in basic training I was trained to give it a good bump. Figured it was pointless since the mags always seemed fine. Guess they actually had a reason.

These are all usgi mags. Some go well, done don't. It's bizarre

Just differences in the stamping. I have a few I have to bang in, and I have a few I don't have to. I just bang everything in and problem solved! If you mill about .010" off the top of your mag catch, it should solve the problems.

Normally not the rifle that is the issue. I have seen many STANAG mags hang up, most of the time it is the super cheap ones. My advice is just paint them so you can recognise they are range only mags and live with it.

My pmags all drop out and so does my usgi mag that came with the rifle. Stag arms is the maker.

Some mags are just snug. I don't have to slam them in, but some require a good push. They also have to be pulled to drop out of the magwell

This happens to me on my ar. I have to give them a good tap to get them to stay in the AR otherwise they just plop out. As for not dropping out from the magwell it could be the magazine spring pressure, one of my magpuls did not want to exit because there was not enough pressure on the follower to push itself out, with a quick dissasembly and extending that magazine spring a bit, that problem never arose again.

Anyone have any tips for a gun that has a somewhat tight magwell? So far I'm thinking just modifying a couple 50 or so mags.

What is tight about it? The lockup requires banging the mag? Or they don't drop freely?
