I've been trying to find a colt DE about a week now locally with no luck.

And a little cheaper, but not where it matters.

Only the blued DE's are out of production. All the guns since the 2008 reintroduction are stainless.

You have to be able to decipher what is good info and what isn't. A whole lot of stuff you read is from people who have no idea what they're talking about. The bulging brass nonsense is caused by non spec cases. I know this from extensive personal experience, not random people on the internet. Since somehow your salary got into this why are you buying an RIA pistol? That's not something someone with a great salary would buy, there are a whole lot better pistols than RIA. Just trying to clarify and guide you into understanding a few things you asked about.

Reading is how I learn new things and it's also why my job pays me pretty well which is how I afford new toys.... so I'll be damned.

Everyone should get what they want!

I already have a G20. I will probably get a G29 later an RIA and still get another Wesson or STI in 10mm. Yes, eventually I will get them all. And if I get a Colt DE, I want blue with real ivory grips. I would shoot it less than the others and on safer loads too.

    Factory barrel shot great.

Right, which would be an ammo issue and not a gun/barrel issue...

I need to go shoot the S&W 1076 I've had sitting in my safe for two years now.

You could probably just build one on a 629 frame, if you were that determined. They're also really easy to come by in the single action world. There was a convertible model made in .38-40/10mm, and the .38-40 cylinder is pointless to install.

EDIT: Hamilton Bowen will make you a 610 out of a 627. There you go.
