I'm sure there are other ways to check and I don't understand anyone who wouldn't, you're putting way too much trust in folks, and you're putting your own freedom at risk.

I stick to new purchases now, just personal preference.
This is what I follow as well.

So every firearm you've ever purchased is brand new?

I know where every single gun I own came from and it's history from birth to me. Seems like that would be pertinent info to have.

If I did own a throw away it would be buried in the neighbor's garden, not in my safe with my legit firearms, and only dug up when I needed a "stinger". You know, and some crack to sprinkle on the poor bastard.

I've bought and sold several guns through this site, but I did not personally know the members. They all seemed legit, and I believed them, but how can I really know they didn't steal them and bull shit me when I bought it from them?

I doubt that it was really stolen. It is much more likely that he had someone buy it for him because it is illegal in his state and they reported it stolen to cover their ass. Also considering how many guns I have bought used over the years there is a pretty good chance that I own one that is stolen and I would have no way to know until the police run the serial numbers. Do you know for certain that every single gun you own is "clean"?
