Sometimes the people you are related to are the most toxic people in your life. They think that because they are related to you they can get away with whatever they want due to the blood relationship. I don't subscribe to that at all. Anyone who is like that needs to be removed from your life. I haven't spoken to my own mother in 17 years and have no intent to ever again.

Yeah. In her situation, it's a pattern of learned behavior. Her mother, from what I hear, is now a 30pack of stones a night. She hasn't always downed a 30 pack a night, but she has been a big time drunk for as long ad I've known her, and was that way her whole life.


Trust me Aaron - I have my doubts, too. I've heard it all too many times. She's never gone the rehab route though. I've seen somewhere that meth addicts have something like a 17% chance to get and stay clean. That, coupled with it being forced, the odds are stacked against her. But for his sake, I wish her nothing but the best. That's a shitty life to live. And me taking him away has pushed her further in to the hole. It becomes a vicious cycle, obviously someone like that isn't thinking clearly.

Again, I totally agree. I've been blessed with a family that is somewhat normal, my cousin had a bad stint with alcoholism, but other than stupid fights, he was never toxic. Well my Mom's side any way, my dad's family is here in SoCal, and I got ignored for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Uh, they would go to my soon to be ex wife? It's not like I drag them around to fight. Besides, id be out in a matter of a couple hours, and you dont do any real time over fighting anyways. A fine, some probation, thats about it. Maybe I worded that badly. I'm not willing to go to jail, per se. Especially over things like theft, drugs, etc. But jail is a consequence I'm willing to accept to protect my family, defend their honor, etc. Maybe that makes more sense.

It does completely, but as someone that's never been, I'd like to keep that track record. I'd love to say that I'm level-headed enough to walk away, and completely sober I always will, but throw a few drinks back and that could change.

Yeah, I guess I did know the answer, but you kinda made a blanket statement. Wife's and mother's that even act half the role are worth defending, those that only hold the title are not.

I truly hope that she gets clean for her own sake, and I'm glad that you're atleast open to fostering that relationship so long as she is able to be a good role model. The sad statistic is, that you have want to get help for it to remotely have a chance. The fact that it was rehab or jail tells me that she took the lesser of the two evils, and she'll be back on drugs as soon as she gets out.

I completely agree with what you are saying, over board shit, it's dumb to take it to that level. But I have my limits what I will deal with, Adam told you about it today. My BS threshold in person is very short when my space is being invaded.

It's a big reason I stay away from the bar GTG's here. There is alot of aggressive characters on this board, I rather than not tempt fate by being around it and something possibly happening with someone pumped up on liquid courage bringing board nonsense into real scenario.
