Strange thing is. I think I understand what Grape is saying.
Knew it in a different level than F1, but its the same basis for a local track.

120,000 fans with a $25,000,000 sanction fee.
Nascar brings 200,000 with a $7,000,000 sanction fee which the race track gets back in tv money.
All of you smart guys that are on the outside looking in, take some pictures of the sponsor logos that are visable on the walls and such for me....lol. You know, the sponsors you guys said that would make up the difference.

So, for us slow people, implication challenged for the PC police, could you please elaborate on EXACTLY what you're implying here? I read it 2 or 3 different ways. And a simple, "re-read Grape's comment", does not constitute and explanation.Originally posted by slow99 View PostSpecial machines man, special machines.

In all seriousness, the Historic Grand Prix race was the highlight of the race weekend so far. I know it's not making anyone any money (because most motorsports endeavors over the past century have been profit generating...), but those cars were gorgeous and sounded fantastic.

I think it was 82,000 plus today. Can't wait for the race! Except for the walk from the drop off point, the shuttle buses have worked fairly well. I have had a perma-grin on my face since Friday.

I wonder how many Ferrari hats have been sold?

def no hate for F1, actually love the technical side of the sport. however, unlike most normal fans, i have made a living in pro motorsports since before i was an adult, so I tend to look at all these things from a business aspect. You will never catch me saying, "man i love nascar", to be honest, the fascination with our sport amazes me. I'm lucky and fortunate that it makes a lot of money for a lot of people, but without being involved with a team or car, or your childhood friends, i'm really confused at how anybody could be such a fanatical fan.Originally posted by Ruffdaddy View PostDo you just hate F1, or are you mad that you were wrong about the track completion...or is this some other deep rooted issue I'm unfamiliar with?

Having fun here. Looking forward to qualifying tomorrow. I also got signed up in time for the Cadillac event at COTA in December. I hope they let us go around the whole track even if its at 50%, but I'm not holding my breath. It's free so any track time is cool, I guess.
