I prefer the black plus the window switch bezels wouldnt match and the ones on the 98 were a little shot.
Cars gone now anyway. Just got towed off.
Thanks again Kyle, new motor seems to run great.

I finished the swap yesterday and mang is it nice to have wheels again! Runs excellent and does not drip a drop of anything. Had some vac lines and fittings break but swapped those and all is well. Few new gaskets and fresh supercharger oil and coupler. Drives great now and still gets 26+ with spirited driving on these back roads.
Yay!

I finally got her back together! One last part needed though, oil filter housing gasket. Closest store is 21 miles and I have no car so have to wait for a friend to visit. LOL
So here is what I found with the old motor. When removing its oil filter housing thick black sludge was on the lower half. Ports were completely clogged. The spring actuated port was rusted closed. I didn't drain the pan but the oil that came out of the housing showed signs of water.
So there we have it. Oil starvation from poor maintenance and a bad lower gasket had killed the motor. Bummer.
Anywho, after swapping the motor I decided to swap the seats. Drivers seat has a rip in the bolster but the bottom is in nice shape. My old seat bottom was ripped to hell. My old rear seat had a half dozen burn holes in it as did all of my floor mats so I swapped them over too. Decided to do the passenger seat as well cause the 98s leather is much softer then the 99s. Guess nobody ever leather treated it.
Swapped the couple broken dash vents too. After taking the pictures I see I forgot to finish swapping the passenger air bag cover. Still have to remove the three PITA bolts up top. Too hot to screw with now.
Also swapped blend door actuators. Old one could be moved by hand so I hope this cures the issue with the drivers side blowing hot.

TC was in place. Not my first rodeo.
Yeah Kyle, the red cars interior is ready to be dropped in. I am just so tired and sore I havent messed with the car at all today. That and I need an oil filter housing gasket and no way to go get one so I am stuck anyway.
I will prolly slap it back together tomorrow except for the gasket. Just gotta wait for a friend to visit so I can go get one.

Getting everything lined up is a bitch....espically when you don't have the TC pushed all the way back and can't figure out what the hell is going on....

should be nice when its done. you've got a good interior in that red car so the white one should come together nicely!

Got that bish of an engine back in today. Trans alignment was fighting me all the way. Then the engine mount.... ugh. Oh well, learned the tricks to make the next one easier. LOL! Still gotta get an oil filter .... thingy.... gasket. Still have to hook up all the electronics and cooling lines and it should be good to go..... I hope.

AH YES THE B*TCH BOLT... hahah glad i remembered that one when i did mine.Originally posted by LaserSVT View PostWell hell. Thought I was ready to pull the motor but after wiggling it around I realized there must be a hidden bolt. The damn bolt under the rear manifold is the one thats kickin my arse. I need another 18-24" of extension so cant do crap till my buddy can bring his extensions out.
Other then that bolt the motor is just kinda sitting there. Oh well, there is ALWAYS one thats a PITA to get too.

I was thinking about that cause it is $8 a bottle and I need two. Only thing is I dont know when the oil was last changed in it. Then again the coupler has zero slack so maybe its new and the oil was just changed.

Just swap complete snout with rotor pack around....Saves on having to buy SC oil(which has gone up)

Well I worked on it till my hernia yelled at me. LOL. Got the AC and PS pump dropped, harness out, fuel lines and other crap. Only have a few bell housing bolts to go and the exhaust flange and its ready to lift out.
The SC coupler on the white car is like brand new so in the interest of saving money I am just gonna swap couplers and do a SC oil change.
Its an easier swap then a Mark VIII motor swap but the damn hernia is slowing me down. Can only work on it a couple hours before I gotta take a break.
