Take it easy on that motor and make it last! My fiancee's GTP has 160k+ on it, but we try to baby it!
Man the ride home was a trip! The speedo refused to work so I was just pacing my friend. On the highway a little of the rear glass blew out and flew forward with a nice little shower. Then when we hit the back roads by my house I was still tailing my friend. He slamed on the brakes but I was far enough behind to casually slow down. Then I saw why he slammed on the brakes. Two Sherrifs cars going the other way. Only the second time I have EVER seen a cop car on that road and I got pulled over the last time too! LOL.
So he pulled me over and as he was walking up to the car the rear window fell in with a loud crash. He went for his gun and my arse hole swallowed the seat. I cant be mad at the cop cause he tagged me for speed and expired reg. I explained I JUST got the car and couldnt afford a tow.... the tow would be cheaper then the tickets I am sure. He didnt ticket me for expired safety and no POI. Insurance agent said with new car purchase I am good on existing for 30 days but the cop said no. IDK, wasnt gonna argue.

He was friendly enough and while I dont know how fast I was going Im sure he had no reason to lie about the speed he claimed. Oh well, gotta eat it.

Car drove well, it has issues some more serious than others but for the price and what I need it works fine.

Just got back a little while ago with the parts car. Its blower idler was way bad so I drove it home without the supercharger running and still managed to get a speeding ticket. Speedo wasnt working so I guessed.... guessed wrong. Oh well. Parts car drives well. Got showered in glass as the already broken rear window blew inward on the highway. LOL Engine is solid, blower needs a new coupler and since funds are tight I guess I will just swap blowers over, gonna have to get an upper gasket I guess. Cant afford the lower gasket right now so I will have to try and keep off the boost untill I can afford that.
Its almost a shame to part the 98 cause its really a nice car. But seeing how I gotta replace the back glass and the AC dont work and the bumper skin is screwed and it needs tie rods, its really more then I can spend and the engine exchange is cheaper.

Gonna part or just sell the red car after I swap seats and motor.

THEY lied to you....The 3800s never had an issue with blowing the HGs...The known issues where the VC gaskets leaking on the front, the LIM gaskets failing and people not being smart enough to MOD them correctly...The gaskets that have been failures have been re-designed and updated a few times to correct the issues.

Like I said before the 3800 is a good motor that last forever if at least half ass taken care of.

Well I am back on with Kyle. Now I just gotta figure out when and how to get back up there and make it run then drive it back. Hopefully my buddy in Waco has a slow day where he can get off early and drive me up.

Then starts the fun. I hope to get both of the cars noses in the carport together and drop the entire subframe with the drivetrain and steering still attached and just swap them under the cars. I also hope the AC lines run over the trans so I dont loose all my new and expensive r134.

Yea, you beat me to it. I started typing the reply and had to go to the shitter before I could finish. And I never refresh the page, I just hit submit.

At any rate, good luck with your car situation. I think everyone here knows what it feels like to go through a run of bad luck.

    He does.

I think what they did was tune the car based on knock retard timing events and wideband. They failed to do the most important step, which is to check the spark plugs. However, what he's saying is the knock sensors were pulling too much timing. And they tried to tune it to where they would be less active, thus indicating that there was less indication of detonation. It's just a really backwards way to say not enough fuel or timing retard was the cause of the problem. He's looking at as the knock sensors where pulling a lot of timing (his word: too much) and that was indicating moderate to severe detonation. They tried to add fuel to compensate, but it didn't pan out.

He's got the right idea, but his is the dyslexic version.
