I think that's a good theory and all, but you're just replacing one thing with another (granted its less harmful) but he's getting no where closer to breaking the habbit of needing that feeling of a cig in his hand that is ready to smoke. He's just changing method of delivery rather than breaking any real habits.Originally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". LOL!

Lots of good advice in this thread. You will probably fall off the wagon once or twice, maybe even more. Don't be discouraged, just figure out what made you smoke, and try to close that door.Originally posted by T.J. View PostThis thread makes me want to give it a shot sooo bad, but I've never tried to quit just due to the fact that I'm scared of failing. How many times did it take those of you who have quit, to actually do it?
The desire to quit has to be there, or you WILL fail. Like was said, quitting is easy, staying quit is hard.
When you do quit, start counting the days you go without. If you have even a drag of a cig, that starts the count over. For me, wanting that number of days to get larger was some good motivation. And be honest, if your freinds ask how its going, tell them the truth. No shame in a slip up, just try again and start your count over. Not only does it start the count over, but any progress made in losing the craving is lost, however small it may have been.
While I don't want to discourage "cutting back", that's not quitting. Quitting is NOT SMOKING AT ALL. I hate it when people say,"I'm trying to quit, I only smoked a pack this week!" Smoking less is good, quitting is GREAT!

Ask your mom to bottle up some of her most disgusting feces. Everytime you get the urge to dip, pull out that lovely blob of shit and put that in your bottom lip. A million bucks says you won't do that twice!!!Originally posted by 3.90x3.62 View PostAnyone have tips on how to successfully quite dipping? I've heard that it is quite a bit harder to quit dipping because the nicotine withdrawal is stronger. I would guess something like sunflower seeds or some other thing to keep in your mouth while you go through withdrawal would help. Like Rotortrash said: with nicotine addiction, if you cheat once it not only resets the count on days off - but it resets the addiction making it harder to stick with it each time you cheat. The cravings subside, but it takes at least three weeks to get through the worst of it.Originally posted by 3.90x3.62 View PostAnyone have tips on how to successfully quite dipping? Follow the advice in this thread. Its the same type of addiction, only worse. One dip of snuff has somthing like 10-20 times the nicotine as 1 cigarette. That stuff is pretty darn addictive. I have no first hand knowledge of it other than the folks I know that dip. They can't seem to quit, even though most want to.Originally posted by 3.90x3.62 View PostAnyone have tips on how to successfully quite dipping? I can get on the wagon, but I can't stay on very long.
You're going to need some support, at the very least. Maybe even go to the doctor to see if any of the prescription meds might be for you. They work differently for different people.

As a person watching someone else load their big fat bottom lip with a hunk of that shit.... that's all that comes to my mind. "Hey look, that guy likes to syphen doodoo through his bottom teeth"Originally posted by MOSFET View PostThat is so foul.

Will that visualization help you to realize that's what it looks like to everyone else? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just being honest.
Seeing a person dip is just as unattractive as seeing/smelling someone smoke.
If me saying something like that sticks out in your head enough to curtail you just ONCE, then I've helpedOriginally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". LOL!
