Ask your buddies what years of the 6.4's they mostly work on and what job numbers they are. When the 6.4's came out they had flaws from the 6.0. But after the job 2's came out ford and international worked out most of the problems. People bitch about how the cab has to come off the truck to work on the motor but any diesel tech that knows what he is doing can get the cab off in 30-45 mins by himself. Any help will get the cab off faster. So it's really not that big of a deal to get to the motor with a lift.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostThat's not what I've heard, my buddies who are ford diesel techs tell me the 6.4L is an awful motor with tons and problems and it's making them a fortune, but they speak highly of the 6.7L
A lot of conflicting info out there. I personally don't know, GSXRK5 would be a great guy to ask though, he's working on the new powerstrokes.

After the HS mine lie meter is crazy. Said I averaged low 20's on my last tank. Hand calculated it was 13.6. All stock it was within 1/2 mpg everytime.

obviously. I haven't even put half a tank on this thing. I realize they lie, but they are pretty decent at gauging increases/decreases with a programmed truck on stock injectors

Are you going off what the truck is saying on the lie-o-meter?Originally posted by Cooter View PostI didn't really pay attention, but if he's got a built engine w/ cam and head work, boost numbers shouldn't be crazy...
a stock 12v can make 100psi boost with a crappy old set of HX35 (57mm)/HT3B(75mm) twins and some injectors... and be lucky to crack 500
my buddy's drag truck makes 80 or so with a well ported head and a cam with a 75 on top of a 106 and is probably in the 850 range
man, it was so nice to see the instant mpg at ~20mpg cruising along at 60. when I was driving it home, it was more like 13.5! LOl

Yeah I read about his truck on powerstrokenation.com. That thing is a beast. Have you heard it yet on one of his videos. Those turbo power X's sound wicked. But I figured he would make more boost with those turbo's. But that is one badass truck.Originally posted by Cooter View Postthanks man
FWIW, different trucks like different tuning...

Man I wasn't getting into a pissing match with him. For what you want either tuner will work just fine. I hope you have good luck with the truck and enjoy the hell out of it.Originally posted by Cooter View Postreally wasn't looking to get into an H&S vs. Spartan pissing match.
I like the H&S because it's got good display/control, on the fly, up to 300hp tune, and I can delete the fucking TPMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL can't wait till that module gets here so I can quit looking at that damn TPMS message.
Oh, and this thing is PLENTY fast on the 250 tune!

I agree, I despise that so much. I'm on board with you, having a monster horsepower car is waste of money. Mod to where it's fun to drive, but not beyond reasonable, reliable power levels. I hate wasting money so much.Originally posted by Cooter View PostI just HATE that sinking feeling of money-loss when something breaks. So I really try to play it somewhat conservative with anything diesel performance related
