I've bought two vehicles with liens on them. One was my mega cab. I went to his house, and we drew up a nice contract. The guy wasn't white trash, and everything went smoothly.

The second was an 03 Dodge. The guy was older, I went to his house, met his family, drew up a contract, and *I* paid the balance of his loan. Then when the title arrived, I bought the truck.

Gotcha. Too many ways for those kind of deals to go bad or me. Plenty of vehicles with clean titles ready to go imo.

exactly.. she had her payment statement for march (same month i bought it in with the total payoff amount) we wend and did a notarized bill of sale stating she would pay off the note and release the title to me.. she was claiming she was pregnant and needed a bigger car. then her boyfriend called me a month later saying the money got stolen from a bowling alley and they have no way of paying me back.. the address of jim/james petty is her dads place and i spoke to him once and he didnt seem to care

i did the same thing on a bike i purchased out of oklahoma. apparently in OK the blue title in not the clear title as it is here in TX. i called the guys dad after the dude was ducking me, dad rolled out a sob story how his kid was a piece of shit, apologized called the bank, paid off his kids loan and next day aired me the title once i came in. i hope you get it squared stephen.

yea no shit... i immediately knew it was bullshit when he called me at midnight to tell me what happened.. Thanks to a couple boardmembers i was able to get the title but at my expense of another 4500 she never paid off.. I would like my money back if any way possible
