Breaks my fucking heart to hear something like that. My son goes..............I go. I have made a promise to take care of him where ever he goes.

I'm sure he'll be inundated with calls and well wishers today through the funeral. It won't hurt to see him today, but he'll probably be in shock from now, until the funeral. Have the wife cook him chicken spaghetti, lasagna, or something that can be either in the house today to accomodate family, or can be frozen and eaten later.Originally posted by slow84lx View PostDon't call. Go see him. If he doesn't want to talk just be there. Sit in the room or hang around outside. Bring him breakfast in the morning. If he want to talk, listen. If he doesn't he will still know that he has some support.
Without a doubt, make sure you go to him within a few days of the funeral, because when people start to leave, the shock will wear off, and he'll need comfort the most.
I can't comprehend hurting my kids. I get that she had some sort of mental illness, but I just can't fathom being selfish enough to take it to that level.

You should call him now or in the next couple of days.
A mutual friend I met through a close friend had lost his girl friend in an a t v accident. I asked my close friend that he should call him and we'll go hang out somewhere. Friend of mine just shrugged it off and said he was fine. On the outside, to family and friends, he appeared fine, but on the inside he wasn't. Roughly two weeks later he hung himself. From the time he lost his girlfriend to when he hung himself, happened in the span of a month and a half or so. Waiting could be too late man.
Wish your friend the best.

Having gone thru something similar (my kid wasn''t shot by her Mom tho), trust me, there will be a billion people either at his house or calling. He will want some alone time that he won't get, has a zillion things going thru his mind and won't know what to do. Give him and his family a day to cope before calling IMO.Originally posted by juiceweezl View PostThis. If you care about someone and are thinking about them, let them know. Keep them in prayer too.

Agreed, you could end up being the light in his darkness.. Call or go see him.Originally posted by talisman View PostI'm of the opinion you should call him right away. Even during the darkest moments of my life when I didn't want to talk to any one, my friends kept me going. Terrible situation.

Horrible.
Thanks! I searched my butt off for that. Searched Plano, no wonder I failed. So much for the facts my wife passed onto me.
Wanna say thanks to all the advice given. I will call him later today. I think the kid being 7 is even more depressing. Never met his kid, cause he has been living with the mom since i've known him. I pray she shot him from behind. Either way, it's still sad and dying by the person who gave you life is mind boggling. I have learned to respect life since my son came into mine.

A mother shot and killed her 7-year-old son before turning the gun on herself Friday morning in Sachse.
According to the Sachse Police Department, officers arrived at the home on the 7100 block of Longmeadow Drive to support the woman's estranged husband who had recently received custody of the children.
Shortly after officers arrived, someone left the home while they waited outside for the woman's husband to arrive. A few moments later, officers said they heard three gunshots inside the house.
Officers forced their way into the residence and found the 43-year-old woman and her son dead.
Investigators are working with the Collin County medical examiner to confirm the cause of death, but it appears the woman shot the child and then herself.
The names of those involved are being withheld by investigators until family members can be notified.

Man, I hate hearing stuff like this.
I would also suggest calling him within a day or so. Let him be with family for a bit, but he will want to get away from them. He will take a long time to heal, but being around people (not always family) will also help.

I couldnt imagine what that poor man is going through. No one should have to lose their child, especially like that.

He needs whatever support anybody can give him, especially friends. Call him before he tries something stupid.

If you have no doubt that he considers you a friend, you need to be there for him. Even if it's nothing more than an open offer of "if there's anything I can do", it means a lot when a person is really hurting.
