I'm not gonna lie, shit is fun, man.Originally posted by bcoop View PostOur trade shows are full of alcoholic degenerates, which makes for good times, but damn man. I'm jealous.
To put it into perspective, the Airstream was $35-40K. We might could spend more if the 'copter was just right.Originally posted by talisman View Post

We were renting an old Huey hull from a boneyard for about 6 months. All the avionics were stripped out; engine, transmission removed; doors gone and windows busted.
It was only a $2-300 a month, I think. I don't remember the particulars but I can dig up the info and post up if you'd like.Men have become the tools of their tools.

I appreciate it, but that one sounds too busted-up for us. It needs to look like it could be operational.Originally posted by BERNIE MOSFET View PostWe were renting an old Huey hull from a boneyard for about 6 months. Oh, yeah I missed the part where you explained why you needed it.Originally posted by BLAKE View PostI appreciate it, but that one sounds too busted-up for us. It needs to look like it could be operational.
They might have more recent additions that aren't completely stripped out, but I don't know right off.
Kind of thinking outloud here: Where is the trade show going to be? HAI is a huge helicopter expo, and will be coming to Dallas next year. They are going to fly in dozens of aircraft and have them on display at the convention center, so I know getting a functional bird inside is doable. It might be easier to hire someone to bring their bird in.Men have become the tools of their tools.

the link i sent you will have a complete shell im sure, windows can be replaced with cheap lexan sheets from a hobby store. Remember it's just for looks not functionality.Originally posted by BLAKE View PostYeah, I thought that too, actually. The thing that was throwing me was missing windows and doors.

Just depends on what you're looking for, huey stuff pops up but is semi pricey for obvious reasonsOriginally posted by BLAKE View PostIt's serendipity that Eric posted the prison escape thread, but seriously....
I need to find a helicopter. I think a Huey would be best, but really it could be any helicopter that has enough room for a half dozen people to stand in it.
The ideal candidate would be without an engine or transmission or anything like that. It just needs to look like a working helicopter, not actually be a working helicopter. This is mostly due to price, because I don't need one that's air worthy, and one that's been moth-balled would surely be cheaper.
Anybody got any ideas?
Rotorways are deathtraps, avoid at all cost! LOLOriginally posted by talisman View PostThere is one in the classifieds back in Canada.
If you have something with rotors attached its going to cost some coin.Originally posted by BLAKE View PostYeah, I don't think that one's gonna work. Too small, too functional.
Edit: something that occurs to me: you probably can't have the rotors without some level of engine/transmission structure in place, so maybe I just need one that's together but not working? I dunno.

Its easy to get helis to and from depending on their size, a lot of them have wheels that you can attach to the skids to roll them around.Originally posted by BERNIE MOSFET View PostOh, yeah I missed the part where you explained why you needed it.

Honestly a helicopter with anything on it will be expensive. The cores or useful avionics are usually stripped out and sold. Something like a huey would be the same for people restoring them.Originally posted by BLAKE View PostGood call.
