  • Gifting a car

Has anyone here gifted a car recently that wasn't to a spouse or child? I see there is a $10 fee if it's your immediate family but I couldn't find any other information regarding gifting a car to another person not in your immediate family. Can this even be done anymore?

    Nope.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

If they're fat ones, let me test drive one of 'em.

Can't help you. I don't like anyone enough to gift a car.

Yep family only now, otherwise you pay taxes on what say the value is worth.

nope. you can't do that anymore. you will have to pay taxes on the standard presumptive value of the car when you go to register/tag it. no more days of selling your family member a car for $10 or "gifting it". my grandmother wants to gift me her escort, but if i want to tag it in texas, i have do as stated above.

True about the gifting. Only exception is if it's 25+ years old then there is no standard presumptive value; they will accept whatever the sale price written on the title transfer form is.
