Without going back, I think there was no set standard for getting a warrant for tracking, only searches involving phone, email, locations, etc. I think this case has now set the precedent.

For the FEDS yes. They only had to have approval from a US ADA. The local/state po po had to have a warrant from a District Judge in the county where the tracker would be placed. Been the law here in Texas since these things showed up. Check the CCP...

Mine have been nothing but positive. Since the Supreme Court weighed in on the side of the citizenry in this case however, I must defer to their decision as being the correct one in my opinion.

You keep parroting that "tracking" comment, and yet this decision doesn't have JACK SHIT to do with tracking, it was the fact that law enforcement was placing a device on PRIVATE PROPERTY without a warrant in order collect evidence, which is illegal.

Read it nice and slow.. placing a device (collection of evidence) - on the vehicle (private property) - without a warrant (violation of 4th Amendment) is unlawful.

You can try to spin it, parrot some stupid shit about open tracking, spout shit about costs, it doesn't matter, it is a cop trespassing onto/into private property to collect evidence without a warrant.
