First thing you can do is bring it to the manager of the location's attention and suggest he do some research about said couple and give him copies of the research you did as well. If for some reason he seems to not care (could be friends with said family) get in touch with the district or regional management. Usually by contacting the corporate office and telling them about the situation and that you have some information to pass to that store manager's superior you will get something done.

As someone else said as well, call the news and let them know about it. That is something they would be VERY interested in.

I can't imagine it, and I don't want to. I'm not even saying that $3.05M is adequate compensation. I can't put a price tag on my children, and I certainly wouldn't trade any, even on a bad day, for that sort of payout. I can even commend them for wanting to adopt, rather than having more children of their own. My issue is that they're playing on the sympathy and compassion of others when they have more money than most of the people they're soliciting donations from will see in a decade.
