So yeah that is a bunch of b/s getting handcuffed for no apparent reason. So what is a citizen suppose to do?

If i ever get pulled over and I am asked if I will consent to a search of my vehicle my answer is always No. And for those that are like, "What is the harm in searching if your have nothing to hide?"....it is the principle of the matter. This is not Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, etc. I do not have to submit to an illegal search because the Constitution says I do not have to.

And is there a law to make it illegal to carry cash over a certain amount? If I go withdraw 15k out of my account in cash and get pulled over, the po-po will actually confiscate it?

Some small departments are using it as a money grabbing tactic. I would love to have that happen to me so I could triple my money. It's better than Vegas baby!

PS - I know you take a lot of these threads personally, and sometimes they are personal. But I'm talking about LE in general, not you specifically. I know you work hard at your (thankless) job and I respect you for that.

But I do think the power afforded LE and other government entities has tipped the scales and I would like to see it revert back. Otherwise we're just living under a fascist regime. Freedom means something to me, and part of that means the bad guys actually have to commit the crime, get caught by legal means, and receive fair treatment in a trial. There are a lot of anecdotes of LE that aren't willing to play by those rules and it pisses me off.

You can look up the "Pendulum Theory" and check how rights will swing over time from liberal, to conservative, and back again. It's the ebb and flow of the thought processes at the current time.

Instead of letting it piss you off, take some sort of action. You can be a reserve officer and keep your day job, you can take law classes, participate in some activism, or anything else.

There is nothing more satisfying than putting bad guys in jail knowing you played by the countless rules that the bad guy doesn't have to.

I wished I could find the image of an old poster from the 80/90's that was a police officer in uniform that was standing up and had a ball and chain, was handcuffed, gagged, and blindfolded. The caption read "Now go out there and do a good job".

I would hope they still had their receipt and showed them that they made a withdraw no less then how long their little search took. But who knows probably would have be confiscated anyways during their "investigation."

I can't remember the last time I kept a receipt for a bank withdraw. Or anything honestly.

With that said, I'm not comfortable with a "blanket" search of all cars. A choke point, maybe, but to stop all cars and cuff everyone is waaaaayyy outside the parameters of a legal search IMHO. The ends does not justify the means.

I have never allowed a search of my trucks. I've been threatened with dogs, been told they smell 'something odd' and such but I told them if they did or found anything then they wouldn't be asking, I'd be sitting on the curb cuffed while my truck was torn apart.


And no, there's no law. However there are confiscation laws in certain towns that allow them to confiscate your money without charge and then threaten you with all kinds of prison time and drug charges if you dont' sign over your money

So say your wife was driving past the bank that had just been robbed and was car jacked by said robbers at gun point. She was forced to drive away and made it to that intersection and was stopped by the police, pulled out and hand cuffed along with her unwanted passengers. She then safely tells the cops she was carjacked and they arrest the perps and she lives to see another day, would you bitch then?
