    Comparing CEO's and their parachutes to public sector workers starts at one major difference. Those CEO's negotiated with the company, stock holders and anyone with a stake in the company to get it. Their salary was weighed against experience, the health of the company and expectations.

    Public sector workers have no such balance. No one stands in for the tax payers so politicians who want to be elected and reelected use a blank check to buy votes by pandering to these people. If they were anywhere as efficient as their private sector counterparts, you could reduce the workforce by probably 1/3 and reduce their salaries and legacy costs by that much or more

    I didn't realize that you had the right to dictate what people in a capitalist society get paid? If you are a shareholder of those companies you do, in which case you should sell your shares if you disagree. This isn't Russia yet, despite what your union overlords are feeding you.

    I think a more suitable avenue was probably available to him. Unless his plan was to attain national attention for his cash deficit, could possibly have been a good strategic move. But I wouldn't think so.
