Yup. It'll ding your credit, and if it is big enough they might sue you. Even if they win they can't garnish your wages. The judgement will stick around for 10 years, but nothing else will happen.

They have to pay to keep the judgement updated, annually I believe. Once it lapses you can start trying to get it removed. Texas also has a 4 year statute of limitations that opens up possibilities of getting the debt scrubbed early as well. Texas is really friendly to the debtor and offers quite a bit of protection.

Not sure what you are trying to say here. It sucks its coming down to this for many cities. My city is in rough shape as far as budget goes, but thank god its not that bad.

Cutting the funding on something that should be top priority is not a smart thing. That's peoples lives we are talking about. Cut funding on parks or other projects they may have. Human life trumps all.

What do you mean by separate EMS and ambulances? I guess they could go to a private EMS system, and have volunteers for the fire side. Many city do that. Sucks all the way around for the public service employees there, glas I dont work there thats for sure.
