If you can get it there, they probably wouldn't care. The first day on the island, a uniformed, on duty cop came into the bar with his shirt unbuttoned half way, a beer in his hand, reeking of island weed, with blood shot eyes.

Cost of living is about 33% higher than where I live in East Texas, but I don't foresee paying for all the conveniences that we pay for now, so I would say 33% is a bit high.

Living conditions are considerably more simplistic than the average DFW (Garland, Oak Cliff, Greenville excluded). I've heard that St. Croix is the whiter side of the islands and the recent layoffs will have properties going for cheap. We will likely end up in St. Thomas where we have more friends.

Noooo.....St. Croix is not the whiter side, it's the cheaper side. With the refinery closure, the crime is outlandish. The property is dirt cheap, though. Water Island is what you're thinking...

Trust me on this, when you get away and turn down all the noise that DFW has to offer you have time to think and slow down. Coming back has been quite a shock to the system, as have the hoards of shitty drivers.

I have a decent amount of time to think. DFW has a lot to offer, including a rather large group of friends and 27 years of personal history.
