Probably working until I die. I'm sure by the time I get to retirement age, the government will tax my IRA to non-existence.

It would suck if you die before you reach the age of being able to withdrawal penalty free
But, I admit, I too contribute to 401K even though I bitch about it.

My wife was laid off in 2006. A couple of months ago we got a letter that her pension was rolled over to Fidelity. We had no clue she even had a pension. Bought 1000 shares of Facebook IPO, retiring next week!!!

Apple has been pretty good to me, bought in '04 at under $40, got a nice split the following year, sold half this year when it topped $600, put that in my Roth. Holding on to the other half for a little while longer. That, along with the 401k and pension plan here at work, plus whatever is left of SS by then (about 15 years away). The house will paid for in 5 years, will be remarried in a month, and her salary is pretty much all going into savings, and we'll have her 401k and SS. Also have a mountain cabin in NC if we decide to get away from the city. We should be ok.

Buy a house on PK by 40, have it paid off by 55 and move there full time whenever I decide to retire. Spend the rest of my day fishing, out running young kids with my hot rod boat and drinking beer.
