The radio can say what it wants. The actual futures market will dictate the price: http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/commodities/futures/

Look down to the part that says GASOLINE RBOB FUT (USd/gal.)

BTW, Gas is already up 4 cents this morning....

Some formula's are more costly than others and the "down time" affects gas prices some. When people hear that refineries are "shut down", most of the time it's due to mandatory government inspections and government-required maintenance.

Not saying it's the ONLY reason, but my wife works for a refiner, so I'm not talking out of my ass.

Most companies aren't going to foot the bill for Internet, home phone, etc.

I'm lucky enough to get a company truck and gas card and can take it home and use it locally for personal things.. i filled up my truck last month to go camping and will fill it up again before the end of this month..but i can't imagine having to foot the bill with prices as they are right now.

Gas hasn't really been high enough yet to change how/what 90% of people drive. 5 years ago came close but once prices went down most were back to their same old habits. I have always been a truck person and always will be but haven't owned one in 7 years and probably won't for many years unless it's paid for and a 2nd vehicle. Nice to have all that extra money going toward other more important things.

We won't get off oil, and we'd be stupid to.

You think shit is expensive? Just drove on the autobahn today going 210km/h uses a shitload of gas and im paying 8.06 a gallon. 1.72€ a liter for all dat can do maths. Still cheaper for me than to take the train. Also more fun : )

    That would go three fold

Less people on the streets means less roadway repair
less risk of accident equating lower insurance rates
less people on the roadways causing conjestion so others get better mpg and use less fuel.
