last valet i used curb checked my car and trashed my wheels. I took pics, sent him that it looks like one wheel was badly damaged. Once i had discount tire look at it , spot damage on the second wheel, the valet manager got short with me like he was offended he damaged my car.

Did i mention he begged and pleaded with me to take my car to "his" shop? Well, i decided to be nice and give them a call for a quote, and they quoted me a very large number to repair my wheels, with only about 40 bucks more to replace them completely, and he was upset again that i didnt choose his spot and that i wanted them replaced, and not repaired at his choice. I had to point out im not going to pay him and no doubt his cousin for the privilege for fucking up my car.

I had to get the restaurant GM involved, who tried to pull the "hey, they are an outside company" line , which was disappointing. I just pointed out they were representing the restaurant, and representing them -poorly- .


Tying this all back to tipping, yes, i tipped the valet. All the damage was done on the passenger side, which i didn't discover until next morning. Very nice of them to try to just pass it off and hope i wouldn't have noticed. The concrete dust smeared across a detail job on the tires i had done only 1.5 hours before dinner was all the evidence i needed.

Hitting trip reset only makes it easier to joyride. They only have to hit reset when finished then go a tenth of a mile or whatever. It'd be a lot harder to drive 237.4 miles or whatever it was. Just look at what it's on when you get out.

I don't leave them laying about. I leave them in the glovebox or center console, with the exception of my pistol. When I have to valet her, I take everything with me that could possibly be stolen, down to the old gameboy advantage I use to kill time.

I have to lock the Sync system, get my pistol and electronics out, make sure I don't have any cash or change anywhere in the car and there's nothing valuable to steal that isn't locked down. Then I have to reset my trip to make sure it goes only as far as it has to.

It's a hassle.

If I go to a place and valet parking is forced on me unkowingly I don't tip. Usually not to be a dick... I just never carry cash on me. If I am going to a place I have been before and I know I have no other option I will try to remember to bring a few extra bucks.
