Oh, and a well known member (members) for announcer who knows most of the cars and will be entertaining, will walk around and talk to folks, etc. Kind of like they do at the grudge wars.

i think a shop car shootout would be fun as well. get all the big shops to duke it out for bragging rights.
maybe inviting another group (different each time) to come out as well to give us some unknown competition. maybe the buick guys one cruise, the mopar guys the next, the ls/chevy guys the next.
maybe set up 2 or 3 classes with small buy in's. like unlimited with a $50 buy in, 6.0 cap w/ a $30 buy in, and street tire (no drag radial) with a $20 buy in. second place gets money back, first place takes the rest. maybe even do a bracket as well.
mobile dyno might be fun although doubtful that anyone would bring one out for such a small group/event.

you carry a briefcase full of money 330', then come back with nothing. fastest time wins. heavily penalized if you happen to have a part with you when you return.

Is there a drag strip that we can do an autocross in the back parking lot somewhere? We could have drags on the strip, autocross in the back of the paddock, and a show-n-shine up front. Maybe have an award for best average place if entered in all three (show-n-shine, brackets and autocross)?

*anything with turns rules out a lot of our people, as they're slow enough to not kill themselves in a straight line - but throw in multiple turns and we might have problems.
*1/4 mile, probably not - as a lot of our people may not be 'legal' for the times they'd run.
*whatever we decide on has to be available for the masses to do, and not for a select few
The fast times scenario above was pretty good, I like that. I tried it before, but maybe a bikini contest at the cruise would surely bring the fans who normally wouldn't go.
....maybe have some sponsors like Redbull (they have their girls who attend similar events)
maybe a local shop battle, where all the shops run similar cars. Winners donate to a charity of thier choice and some serious bragging rights.
it's the 10th year, something big has to be done.
