Ive been thinking about this. There is no reason you need a gun like that as a citizen. You cant give me one good reason. If you own a assault rifle do your american duty and turn it into your government for destroyment. Handguns are ok but no one needs a rambo-like gun on the streets.

First, you should define Assault Weapons. Are you using the Military Definition or the bullshit definition? Those as defined by the Military are already illegal for most people to own. You have to have a special permit that is issued by the ATF. That kind of REAL Assault Weapon can fire at full auto or burst. The so called "Assault Weapons" like the bushmaster are not capable of that. They can be modified for full auto but that is already illegal. You can also modify semi auto pistols for full auto.

I'm sure that the guys here can point out several non-assault weapons that would be better to use in a massacre than the Bushmaster.

My main point here is that the last Assault Weapons Ban was just feel good legislation that did NOTHING. In fact, many of those "assault weapons" continued to be sold after the ban. The manufacturers just removed the flash suppressors to make them legal.

But let's say we do create a new ban. How do you get people to turn those weapons in. I sure as hell am not. All you will do is create a new black market which gives organized crime a new revenue stream.

First, the reason we need a weapon like that as a citizen is because the 2nd amendment was designed to give the citizens the ability to remove a tyrannous government. How are you going to remove them with a .22 with 5 round magazines? Our American duty is to be ever vigilant and keep and bear arms.
