A piece of foam insulation broke off during take off, striking the wing. If you are travelling the speed limit on the way to work, just as you've done every morning previously, and a tie rod breaks, would you say that it was your speed that made you veer off the road and caused the accident? No.Originally posted by Darren M View PostAnd what made the heat shield fail? Heat? Where did the heat come from? Friction. Why was there friction? Speed of the vehicle entering the atmosphere.
Semantics are very important, if you ask me. They are the differences in most things in life.

What caused the foam insulation to break?Originally posted by Taya Kyle, American GunThere comes a time when honest debate, serious diplomatic efforts, and logical arguments have been exhausted and only men and women willing to take up arms against evil will suffice to save the freedom of a nation or continent.

The Board determined that physical and organizational causes played an equal role in the Columbia accident - that the NASA organizational culture had as much to do with the accident as the foam that struck the Orbiter on ascent.Originally posted by Darren M View PostWhat caused the foam insulation to break?

Sounds like the mustang did it's job and saved their lives.Originally posted by crapstang View PostThanks man. They are both home as of today.
One thing I've learned in my time is that mustangs are unforgivable. I've lost it more then id care to admit, I've been able to drive my way out of it, or make the best of a shitty situation.
Sideways into a ditch at 130+ and sliding for 50-70yrds into a drainage ditch, some how I managed to get 6feet of air and land backwards in the ditch on the oppisite side of the road. I thought it was over and I was sure I was going to start rolling. I got lucky and to this day, speeding isn't what it used to be. That scared the shit out of me.
I just hope he learns like I did. It's just not worth it.
