I was getting peppered off and on all night long by tiny pieces of metal when they were shooting at the metal targets.

Kinda, I was at an indoor range. Which I will choose not to name. I was standing at the line loading a mag and all of a sudden I felt something punch me in the chest. I look down to see a projectile on the bench in front of me. Apparently I got hit with a ricochet it broke a little skin but I'm fine (like you guys really care). But I have a feeling I'm gonna have a nasty bruise. Sadly the range wouldn't let me keep the projectile. But I got to take a picture

Had something like this happen to me ... damn copper jacket came back and hit me in the cheek. I didn't know it had stuck till someone said something about it. Shit happens in an indoor range.

speaking of building.....I've never assembled the parts to build a gun before and would like a little advice in trying to get together the pieces necessary to do this AK build party and walk away with a reliable working rifle. And was this one of those things that was caused by someone horsing around or is this just something that happens from time to time? This is why I was asking about shooting FMJ's at the range the other week even though I know now that's not the reason they're prohibited.

This is true. HOWEVER it was a result of celebritory fire from an unknown source. You would thing that after sleeping in the tent for 11 days with the little hole in the fabric above his head, he would have put two and two together. lol

The manager said the way the stop works is that the bullet is deflected upwards and hits something above then simply falls back down to the floor. The issue they have is when people shoot whatever ammo isn't allowed (I can't remember what he said I was still a little surprised) it bends the steel plates that deflect the bullets up. Well apparently somebody hit directly where one was bent and it came pretty much straight back.
