Can't say enough good things about Mother's but I've never ate breakfast there, I'll have to try that next time. Cafe du Monde I just don't get; long lines, bad service, and it's just powdered doughnuts (Beignets)? Don't know what all the fuss was about.
If it's anything like last year, we won't be able to order anything. In Las Vegas, our group of 12 warranted the restaurants to suggest "family style" dining. It sucked out loud.
I'm going to a conference in about a month, and a good friend gave me the following instructions:
Lunch at Mother's on Poydras. Delicious po-boys.
Do Camellia Grill for breakfast. If you have a morning to spend in the French Quarter, have breakfast at The Coffee Pot (be sure to order calas either with or for breakfast), and lunch next door at The Gumbo Shop (duh, gumbo). Both are next door to Pat O's, so you can't miss them.
The Bon Ton Cafe is yummy - that's in the CBD on Magazine. And the Palace Cafe is on Canal Street, and that's the "express" version of Commander's Palace, my favorite restaurant in the world.
My company dinner reservations are:
Sunday: Galatoires
Monday: Clancy's
Tuesday: Mr B's Bistro
Wednesday: Brigsten's
Thursday: Arnaud's
They're roast beef sandwich w/debris is so good I wanted to fuck it.
Lol. Never had a bad anything there. Breakfast will make you want to take a nap, but it's too awesome to not eat there.
Another tip, stay away from the trendy touristy places, the overly cheesy ones. Go for the places that look like they need to be shut down by the health dept.
Since 1938, Mother’s Restaurant has been a gathering place for Marines. Visit our restaurant or browse through our menu and call us today at (504) 523-9656 for deliveries.
