anyone else seriously considering dumping cable tv?

With hd receivers the aiming has to be spot on or it won't work at all. I also would just throw down a dish and watch dtv on my rv or at the deer lease with a single lnb but since all the recievers went hd it won't work anymore.

We have to pay for 2 boxes in the RV, I have one in the Living room & one in the Bedroom. But we paid $200 for the equipment instead of paying to rent the equipment & pay the extra $7 per box for the RV that just looks like we have a total of 4 Boxes on our plan & would never know our bill covers two different address's, I think it comes out for both places & all our boxes with DVR at our home address to $90 a month with taxes for both address's

What would be the best antenna to use for OTA channels? I live roughly 50 miles east for Dallas and I'm about to ditch Dish. I checked ebay and there are like a billion 30-ish dollar antennas. I'm assuming they're junk?

I would prefer it to be in the attic for cosmetic reasons. But I doubt it would be powerful enough. Outdoor is fine.

Many of the commercially sold indoor HD antennas are amplified. Possibly that feature being missing from your homemade one caused the less-than-impressive results.
