Bought my first dirt car. It's a street stock roller that I will mainly run at Super Bowl Speedway. Just wondering if there are any other dirt track racers here. I know there is a guy that races race saver sprints I believe.

If you think RC racing is political and overan by dirty driving..just wait!!Originally posted by Super Coupe View PostBought my first dirt car. My brothers have done it for years. One quit after spending every penny he could find and decided to quit while he still had a shirt on his back. The other just can't walk away.
But he has a nicer race car than the truck he drives to work. And the race car has better tires than his daily driver.....

He runs "cyclones" which are 2nd generation Monte Carlos. He has two IMCA sport mods/limited modifieds but had decided not to step up until the money situation improves and he can finish building both cars. He knows going up will also multiply the amount of cash needed to keep it on the track.Originally posted by Super Coupe View PostHaha I know it. What class did your brothers run? My roller also has better tires than my daily driver lol

Cool man thanks. So you know anybody possibly selling any safety gear?Originally posted by racrguy View Post<--- races the sprint car.
I've never been to Super Bowl, but I've been to just about every dirt track in the major metroplex area. If you have any questions I'll help you the best I can.

I don't off the top of my head, but honestly don't buy used safety gear, save money somewhere else. Buy a good seat, belts, and safety gear. GeForce makes a decent economy helmet that can be had for a couple hundred bucks, I used one before I got my impact lid. Buy a ONE PIECE fire suit, yes they're hotter, but would you rather sweat some more, or have fire get in between your tops and bottoms? A neck brace, shoes and gloves. Some guys don't wear gloves, and they're fucking idiots. Fire doesn't play. Street stocks may be slow, but they and you will burn just as good as I will in my sprint car.Originally posted by Super Coupe View PostCool man thanks. I'm not saying to buy the best of the best, I don't even have the best of the best, but nomex has a coating on it that only lasts a set period of time before it must be reapplied. Seat belts strech, especially if they've been in a wreck, shoes get filled with oil and dirt hindering their capability to keep you from roasting.
I don't think I can stress enough the importance of good up to date safety gear. I know you want to go race on the cheap, but saving half now and getting stuck in the hospital for months because of a faulty driving suit is not a risk I'd be willing to take.
