An ST isn't a bad alternative, that is if you want to experience what is quite literally the world's numbest steering. I'm unconvinced that the steering wheel is actually attached to anything remotely related to the car. A Camry has racecar-like steering feel in comparison to an ST.

If kids are a concern you may want to rethink the mini. I'm fairly short 5' 10" and with the seat in my driving position there was only a good 2-3 inches between the front and rear seats.

My g/f has a Mini Clubman. We drive around in it often and take both of our kids along frequently as well. I'm 6' tall and have even sat in the back seat before and never felt cramped. The regular Mini - maybe. But the Clubman definitely has a little room in it.

I've known three people with mini coopers- one was a woman, another was gay, and the last one was probably a little gay and had a mullet that was dyed blonde. So if you are any of those I say go ahead and get it, if not, stay away from those cars.

I've gotten to the point in life where I'm quite comfortable in my own skin and don't really give 2 shits about what others think of the car I drive.

Point being, those Minis can get you sucked into racing pretty quick. What I did not realize, is he said his Miata handles a lot better than his decked out Mini too! Also, this dude is well into the 6' range as far as being tall and has no problems with either car.

I've been addicted to the on track crack pipe for years. Ironically, the Mustang I have today got me into it. I always enjoyed AX and of course HPDE/Open Tracking was a freak'n blast. However, the last couple of excursions were with Baron in a Probe and then Fox body LeMons cars. Door to door is just hands down another league in its own right. I can't afford an out right race car right now but an AX or 6 a year, yeah, I can do that.

Classic Minis are fun as shit, but the ergonomics are horrific (seriously, the steering wheel is...I can't even describe it) and A/C and 1.3L don't really go together.

I drove a 2012 Speed before I bought my regular 3. 90 on 121 before I looked down and was on my way to 100 without even knowing it.

Buddy of mine picked one up. No understeer, but no steering feel either. Handled brilliantly well compared to every other FWD car I've ever driven, but it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, personally. It's the exact opposite of the Minis I've driven, which had a bit of predictable understeer, but I enjoyed the experience much more.

It's amazing how many people don't understand that concept. If it has a knock sensor, then it doesn't require premium fuel.

Personally, if I'm buying a car, $15 a tank isn't going to make or break my decision anyway. Not that I won't be cheap and run 87/89, but that's really a middling deciding factor.
