Man I havent had to worry about that for a long while.. closest I got recently was my XJ when i bought it the front axle was shot and it was eating tires from the outside in, i flirted with the inspection girl a little(that and promised that new tires were going on within a week) to get her to move the depth gauge in a little further to get a legal reading.

Biggest problem with antique tags is your only supposed to drive to car shows, club meetings etc. A cop that is feeling grouchy can hassle the crap out of you if he wants to. Why give them more ammo?

And for repairs, I have yet to be pulled over in one with Antique tags, but in the even that I do it will either be coming back or going to my shop for repairs. My dad has them on a 83 jeep, 69 camaro and 73 mustang that either him or I drive every weekend.
