For all the people wanting inspection "hookups"

Sure they can. But the state can take the car from the person that purchased the inspection also. Do you want to risk losing your car because you took your cats off or have limo tint and you took your car to your "hookup"? Not worth it to me. I haven't heard of them actually doing it but they can if they want.

Sheesh! I'm in the wrong business. I'm changing my name to Long Duck Dong and doing inspections. I guess I better start with my own first.Originally posted by talisman View PostConsidering these guys made over a quarter of a million dollars, I'm sure they can go get a couple more late 90s Malibus.

The state CAN confiscate both cars the one used to pass the illegal car and the illegal car.

I've seen bogus false charges on hook ups too. I had a buddy who got his inspectors permit or whatever revoked because he supposedly didn't test a gas cap on a car. He was a to the book guy too.

No they were still just 39.75. It wouldn't be worth the extra hassle to me to do the dyno. It doesn't pay enough. Even if the machine didn't cost $40,000.Originally posted by dee View PostWeren't the old dyno type obe1 type Inspections more? Just know what I've heard about prices closest to me is a 2.5 hour drive.

It does get interesting sometimes. I love the guys that want you to diagnose their car for free. It's always tempting to tell them to replace a expensive part that has nothing to do with the problem. I haven't but it's tempting. You get what you pay for you know?

I'm sure the violations were anything from wipers to tires or the emissions stuff. Most likely would be emissions though being a few are going to federal prison and not state.

It could have been anything. Tint, HID bulbs in a non hid housing, missing lugnuts. I had a guy come in yesterday and say in front of another customer "I've got a 85 Bronco I need to get inspected but the catalytic converter is jacked up. You don't look at those on a safety inspection do you?Originally posted by downshift_me View Post$14.50 safety inspections are awesome, aren't they?
On a side note, I'm sure these weren't all emissions cases. What about tint and such? Not to mention people may ask, but they made a choice and you have to pay to play.
Me "1984 and up has to have a cat, we don't check if it works but it has to be there"
Him But it's just a safety inspection how close do you look?
Me I look at everything ( WTF else am I gonna say?)
Some people are clueless.
