  • so i have an mri appt.. getting a little uneasy. ...

Remember a few weeks ago i got rearended by a cab driver.. well everything has healed up except some pain in my hip/lower back area. So they asked for an MRI... i thought cool no biggie but been looking at videos and there isnt much room in that machine. I think i may feel claustrophobic and freak out.. idk haha may be im over reacting. Anyone have any tips for me?

It is claustrophobic. If you have a big problem with that, you need to take a Valium before you go in.

It does suck and I'm not even claustrophobic either. I've had more MRIs than I care to count and it doesn't get easier.

Always take the ambulance ride man. My cousin is in the same boat. Rearended, car totaled, toughed it out that first night, was all fucked up the next day and has been since. Bout 3-4 weeks ago for her.

          Best of luck to you.

How is the other piece of the story coming out. Cab company pulling their end of the hazzle?

Yes according to my atty everything is going smooth and hasn't ran into any issues yet. I should be getting an offer on my truck today since they declared it a total loss.

Had a few with my back issues. There isn't much of a way around it, they pretty much suck.

I had one on my hip and just being halfway in the thing was a little unnerving, I would hate to have to go all the way in. The one I had made really loud clunk noises the whole time too.

No shit. Christ theres so much in the world to get worried about and youre scared to lay inside a tube? My god man, get your shit together. I'd welcome the hour of laying down. Do you think the mri is going to hurt? There's people the get brain surgery and are less scared than you.

I've found that there is often a problem with quality of the images from an open MRI. My first MRI for my back was on an open machine, the images were terrible. Ended up having to have a second one done. My issues were in the same area, hip and lower back. I think I was only halfway in the machine. As they only needed images half way up my spine. Just from the description of pain areas, sounds like it could be a disc issue in the lower back. My pain started in my hip, so I went to the doc complaining of a problem with my hip, almost like it needed to pop back into place. Got an x-ray, then they sent me for an MRI, then the doc said, we are sending you to a specialist. I was like, what for, its just a little hip pain! Then they informed me I had a herniated disc in my back. Its been a fun road......

It only hurts if you don't tell them about any internal hardware (screws/rods from a bad break, etc.) lol

One of my good friends is a MRI tech and I spend quite a bit of time in his control room BSing when not busy. They have people knocked out for an MRI all the time. I have never understood why or how the fuck people can freak out in an MRI. Each end is open and you could crawl the fuck out if anything was wrong.
Most will have music you can listen too. Throw the headphones on, close your eyes, and chill for 45 mins. If nothing else ask for some Xanax and relax.
If it is your hip/lower back your head will not be in a coil anyway so should be no big deal.....
