  • Would you move early over this happening?

    Long story short..

Live in a town home, ok neighborhood, 2 months left on the lease with intentions of moving anyways after it is up.

    Story:

Undesireable's were out in their yard, a gun is fired (whether intentional or accidental is uncertain) in the back yard behind us and passes through our fence and hits our brick wall about 2½ feet to the right of back door, waist high.

Unknown caliber but still a firearm.

15 month old Daughter was not at home but is almost always in the kitchen/dining area when she is.

Now I'm going over the "what-ifs"..

Question, can and should a landlord willingly refund deposit and terminate lease?

The guy was arrested (supposedly) but I can't get over the fact that it happened.

Can they? Yes. Will they? Probably not. It could've happened anywhere as stupid people are everywhere. If you bought a house and it happened there would you automatically sell and move every time? I understand the whole "what if" mindset, but best that can happen is let the landlord handle them if it's the same property or let the police deal with it.

Personally, if I could fly it I'd just move, leave the old place empty, and eat the two months of rent.

Who fucking cares? Sometimes it's other hillbillies shooting guns off. Sometimes it's me. Don't be a pussy. Shoot back.

Can you do any of the following?

                  1) park a car in your backyard
                  2) weld up some 1" thick plating against your fence
                  3) Family up some body armor / kevlar helmets to wear around
                  4) Rent a pet elephant to live in your backyard

I would do one of those, but you could move too.

So, you expect to get out early because of an accidental discharge that happened to hit your house? Are you planning to move to NY so that cant happen again?

No, I'm getting more news on this from police. Gun was fired across the street intended for someone in house behind me. Passed thru their houses front window out their back window, thru my fence.

                              Someone was being shot at.
