There is this fact too. Not once has a police department helped me. I only have to wait the 1-2 hours so I can get their police report for stolen crap. It's somewhere between 8-10 times over the last 12-13 years that stuff has been stolen (our of cars). Mostly Dallas County, but 2 times in Plano too.

Generally speaking I think the police do more good than bad. To me it's a trust issue.

    1. Police tend to align themselves with dealing with the shit bags
    a. So when they deal with an average citizen, they act like douche bags. Traffic cops, THIS IS YOU. You are the face of your department, remember this and correct the assholes in your ranks.

    2. There are plenty on a power trip. We all know this, even cops generally admit to this as well.

I used to trust and respect cops, until one basically treated me like a common criminal over the ONLY tickets I've gotten in 20 years. Inspection/registration on my '03 Mustang that was driven like once every 3 months. Understand, it's not only the 5 prick words he said, it's the lack of overall communications. I show you respect, please do the same in return. You WANT the public to like you, it'll help you way more than hurt you.

Ever since then, I've noticed the general attitude, paying attention to other things about them and slowly I'm starting to strongly dislike most LEOs. I've only had 2 LEOs at my house, and frankly through all my LEO disliking lately - one is welcome back and that's Jimmy. (Above all, he'd not be welcome for being a Tanker - which trumps any bad cop)

Except I have no problem calling for the harshest possible punishment for soldiers who break their oaths and quick justice in those cases. I also have no problem living up to that higher standard. Unlike police however, there is no power the military has on US soil outside of martial law, that will effect a US citizen. My word will not put you away for life and hitting me will not ensure a beat down by 8 guys with nightsticks who can claim 'self defense' and 'stop resisting' while they cave your head in and tase you while you're twitching on the ground.

The only time I feel safer with a cop around is when its late and I am trying to buy a used Caddy in oak Cliff otherwise it has no effect on me. I have a couple DPS and Sheriff and HPD friends and I forget they are cops when we hang out because we are all car guys. The only time I am reminded is when I wanna toke up and realize that they prolly wouldn't laugh. LOL

I certainly won't go as far as to call names, but I will agree, to some extent, that he reaps what he sows on the board. But at the same time, I do not believe, at all, that he conducts himself in a similar manner on the job (or in his personal life for that matter), as he does on here.

FWIW, I honestly believe that Matt is one of the "good cops" and would never worry about him being out of line, especially on the job. I have also known him to go out of his way "off the clock" to help out a number of people. I don't always agree with his internet "persona" but the same can be said for a number of people I consider friends that are on here.

Living in the country, no. I might feel differently about this if I lived in an inner city setting, but I feel like they constantly waiting for me to slip up. I've never been written a traffic ticket, but when a cop rolls up behind me I tense up and check all my crap to make sure I'm not speeding, not expired, etc, even if I know I'm not.

We all know it would never happen, he'd just find an excuse, kinda like someone else on the board.

Funny, however, for you to claim that I'm butt hurt, when you were so pissed off at me that you threatened to do something about it. But you lost all credibility web you failed to follow through.
    Follow through?

Keep telling yourself that big guy. I've given you plenty of chances to prove yourself, but just like Eric, you refuse to put on the gloves and step foot in a gym.

Or, have you changed your mind?
