    BTW its not sulfur, its sodium bicarbonate... (ie powered alka seltzer)

        Sorry I didn't update you guys. Turns out the former owner came around the neighborhood one more time after my last post. He didn't stop by our house, but did visit most of the other houses on the street. When he knocked on my next door neighbor's door (who is a large strong black woman), she told him that he is creeping the entire neighborhood out and if he ever comes back, she'll punch him in the face before she calls the cops. She also called his wife's cell phone and told her what he has been up to. Haven't heard a peep from him since.

        Thank you guys for all the info you were able to provide. I'm hoping he's done, but I'm keeping an eye out.

                    i just assumed because they always smelled like weak, old sulphur. i did always wonder why sulphur would be used to put out a fire.

                    either way, so not only was that not funny in the slightest. it was also ignorant.

                    bummer.
