Haven't lost it yet, but my employer hinted it's coming. Probably in 2015 or 16.

Who has lost their Medical Plan due to Obamacare?

I decided a few years ago to get medical insurance. I went with Reserve National (or National Reserve) out of Ok City. Locked in for 2 years and was @ $105 a month for just me, $2500 deductible and a small accident policy. After the 2 years it increased to @$130 a month, last year increased to @ $145. I was regularly receiving letters after the Obummercrap Bs started stating that my policy met the requirements, they were keeping tabs on everything, etc. I didn't give it much thought or concern.
I received a letter about a month ago, I assumed before opening it that it was a rate increase notice or another "meets requirements" type letter. I opened it to be greeted with it stating that effective January 1, 2014, my policy would no longer meet the requirements for the "get fucked in the ass healthcare bullshit", might have said affordable healthcare act instead, and that effective my anniversary date (may ?, 2014) my policy would be canceled. So, I called, canceled my policies, and got coverage though my girlfriends policy (less money a month and meets the requirements so far).
I did check on getting insurance through the gov website. With my discount it was going to be @ $180 a month.
I'm 32, don't smoke, no previous medical history, or pre existing conditions.

All I am going to say is good luck and IF it happens keep your sanity. In the part of town I work in I have learned the term "fixed income". I now know this means for the most part living off the government. A few are retirees, but for the most part it is people getting aid. Learned a lot over the past year and honestly it makes me feel defeated with how hard I have worked my whole life. Heard many stories on all our current health coverages and it is mid blowing.Originally posted by Denny View PostI did apply to get my kids on CHIPS.

You mean sign up for a tax for the same amount, and not have any insurance? Do you realize, the way the law is written, that "tax" lasts for the rest of your life?Originally posted by diablo rojo View PostI checked out the plans that were offered to me. WITH the credit, my premium on the "Bronze" plan was $336 per month, with a 12k deductible and it doesn't cover shit.
In total, I was offered 28 plans with the best being a "Silver" plan through Cigna that cost $565 per month and had a $3500 deductible, but covered 100% after the deductible.
My work changed their plans because of Obummercare and now they're even shittier than they were.
I'm taking my time and will likely just opt out.
No, if you had a really good plan, it's gone! Ask most union employees. If you're union and still have insurance, it really means you've been getting fucked all along.Originally posted by The King View PostJust like Obama promised, if you like your current plan you can keep it!
