"Phil Robertson's rambling and widely offensive remarks in GQ magazine are likely the last quacks we're going to hear from 'Duck Dynasty.' A&E simply cannot afford to continue airing the program without inciting protests not only from LGBT groups, but also from groups supporting African American and rural interests," crisis communications expert Gene Grabowski, VP of Levick Strategic Communications, said. "What's more, few advertisers will risk supporting 'Duck Dynasty' because of these devastating remarks and renewed focus on a show that invites ridicule of stereotypically rural families."

I get the feeling there was a little friction between a one Phil Robertson and a one politically correct, "rally the troops" Gene Grabowski even before this happened.

I don't watch the show, but I believe it was bullshit all that transpired and think it will blow up in their faces. As long as he didn't say he represented A&E or are a spokesperson FOR A&E, they shouldn't have any problem with what he said. People do it all of the time, EVEN on shows, they just have a disclaimer at the beginning.

I guarantee you that I wouldn't get fired for saying what he said, would you? The bottom line is, this won't affect Phil at all. It will hurt A&E since DD is their biggest show. A&E knew Phils beliefs and how strong he was on them when they signed on for the show, so it shouldn't have been any surprise to them.
If I was representing my company and was a public figure for my company, I'm sure they'd have something to say and/or possibly reprimand me if I said something like that in an article viewed by people all over the world, but what do I know.

You're right. But that wouldn't be good for ratings. I think they wanted this to blow up the way it has. Duck Dynasty is all over the place today (even more so than usual). It's all part of the plan. No one is going anywhere.

Of course, I could be wrong.

I do not see the rest of the DD family filming without Phil. I hope the DD family had some good lawyers that wrote in some "outs" in the contract. I do remember reading their family prayer (also mentioning Jesus Christ) at the end of each? episode was a requirement to them agreeing to the show. So, I am hopeful they had some good "out" contract language written in that if A&E messes with their values or otherwise compromises the show in that way, they can stop filming and void the contract.

Phil expressed his personal experiences and personal beliefs in a personal interview in GQ. He also quoted/paraphrased some biblical scripture:

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God 1 Cor 6:9-10

Bradshaw and Robertson are very good friends because Bradshaw was the backup QB for LA Tech, right behind Phil Robertson. It's very possible that Bradshaw may not have become the star QB he was, had Phil not quit football to go fish.

Chick-Fil-A has no need for a spokesman since their cows are so well recognized.

I don't think he feels A&E is going to go under because of this. I see it more of him saying this wasn't a little fuck up for them, it was a huge fuck up because it could lead to them lose major profit if they (DD crew) were to choose to go elsewhere. They already have networks lined up milk the cash cow.
