I dusted an El Camino in Tulsa that the owner was so mad he was trying to sell his car to everyone that walked by. His "made 400 horses". I told him mine was about wasn't anywhere near that, but was 240 at the time.
Stock SVO with a cone K&N, timing advanced, a mix of super and 110 no lead, and the knock sensor unplugged. Easiest 40 hp gain on a car I've done.

Also the "what have you done to that 5.0?"... And "how fast is it in the quarter?"
Some things just aren't worth explaining, but I love the look of V8 guys after it pulls on them and they see it's a "mostly" stock 2.3t.
Good times.
I actually pulled over a few times and showed the person who just got their ass handed to them that it was a 2.3 when I had my SVO. I'd gank them by 3 or 4 cars, then slow down and they'd be yelling asking what was done to my 5.0, and wouldn't believe it was a 4 pot. Two times that stand out in particular the owners had friends in their car who then started making fun of them. lolz

Guest repliedlol. Spend 15 years behind a parts counter.
"Is that your Mustang out front? Is it fast? I bet you wouldn't beat me. I've got a 1988 Camaro that makes 2000 horsepower! Do you want to race?"
Me- "Yeah, sure, bring it up here after we close."
"What? You really think you can take me?"
"Yeah, shouldn't be any problem."
"What does your car have done?"
"Oh, not much."
"Well I'll be here when you close and show you.."
"See you then." Guy never shows.
The last couple of years wasn't as bad as it was in the 90's; maybe people thought I would just be awestruck by their pile of shit that didn't exist because I was in my early 20's and they didn't think I'd know better.

What's annoying to me is the guy that has never lost to anything. And every time he passes another sports car, he "leaves it in the dust" or the other guy couldn't hang.
When in reality, they other guy was on cruise control and didn't even notice the jackwagon beside him.

Man stick to the boards...Turbobuick.com, TurbobuickS.com, Craigslist...they popup from time to time for what I'd call "REALLY GOOD" prices...but be prepared to turn some wrenches and will probably have to UNDO some of the stupid shit mods I've seen some dumbasses do to them. While they CAN be made fast and reliable...I would steer clear of the 84-85 hotair cars because it is more work to make em fast and they are kinda hard to find parts for. In the last couple of years I've seen and found several 86-87 cars for under 4 grand...and a few of them were drivable.Originally posted by 1carcrazyguy View PostIf you see a clean 86-87 pop up around here for sale keep me in mind. I would like to add one to the collection.
I had the the 86 WH1 and an 87 GN, at the same time, back in about 2000-01. Had to sell them to pay for college.

Pontiac 301....now thats an engine that should have never been. Even WITH a turbo. Turd.Originally posted by mikeb View Post
One day I was walking into an Autozone and there was a guy in the parking lot with a Pontiac 301 engine sitting in the back of a pickup truck he had just gotten from somewhere. There was an Autozone guy out there there chatting with him telling him that he needed to do "this" and "that" to it when I knew that "this" and "that" wouldn't really help that 301. I had stopped to listen, realized that I was listening to a bullshitter, and I offered a little bit of my own advice. That got the self appointed Autozone expert all riled up so I shrugged my shoulders and just continued walking on into the store.
I mean, what the hell do *I* know about Pontiacs?
Don't these people realize that they come across as idiots to people that actually know a few things? Jeez.....

I used to get that back in the wagon days when I'd put a hurting on somebody.
My favorite was the guy in a white LT1 who said "man, that thing is pretty fast for a station wagon!"
Yeah... that thing is pretty slow for a camaro!
Good times

lol. But yeah, E85 diet would be cool if readily available.
Ill throw in a common convo ive fell into. Someone hears about I have a car that I race, and its a"4banger, ricer, etc". Usually starts with how fast is it? Tell them and usual response is "that's purty fast for a 4 cyl". Pull out the Youtube vids and ask if the cars in other lane are slow for V8s then? Durrr

I do have these twin fuel pumps and 1400cc injectors laying around, might need to beat up on a scion soon, lol.

ricers tend to talk about turbos in reference to major diameter of the compressor wheel, so he's probably talking about something like a 56mm turbo
I just flat out stay away and out of conversations about stuff like that unless the person is knowledgeable.

My mom has a 2001 GT. She has had it since it was brand new. I pretty much had this same conversation with her a couple years ago when she said she wished they still had v8's for the GT.Originally posted by 4bangen View PostI get sick of this conversation. (About my 2010 GT)
Them: Is that a 5.0?
Me: no it’s a 4.6l
Them: oh, why didn’t you get the V8?
Me: I did it’s a 4.6l v8
Them: blank stare
Me: it’s a GT, GT’s have V8’s
Them: so it’s a 5.0?
Me: yes, it’s a 5.0
