What is my best investment option outside of retirement, stocks, or cash? Instead of paying more than 6% into my matched 401k I was thinking of putting an extra 10% somewhere else like a good yielding life insurance I can pull after a few years.

Roth IRA, post tax and you can withdraw after 5 years. Other than that, you're looking at BS Money Market or CD's which give you no return.

I put random amounts into buying actual silver and have a few stocks. I picked up Ford at $1 a share during the downturn and only grabbed 20 shares. I was a bit gunshy after the government stole my GM shares and told me to pound sand.

same here. ill work till the day i die. not because i have to but because i cant stand the thought of being with the old lady all day everyday
