Obsolete things that won't go away

I still have to use an odd check here and there. I pay my lawn guy with them. I had 2 different contractors that didn't take debit cards, so they got checks. An odd doctors bill in the mail here or there..

I've been getting horse harnesses from an Amish man in Missouri. He doesn't have a phone so you have to send him a letter. A week later, he calls you from his non-Amish neighbor's phone to go over the details and give you a price. Then you mail him a check or money order, and a few weeks later you have your harness.

They're digital antennas, not analog. Nobody broadcasts in analog anymore (by federal mandate). You actually get HD broadcasts via antenna (assuming they are broadcasting in HD of course). In fact, most local channels actually have 2-3 channels per station that you can access with an antenna, which you won't see on cable or dish.

Fax Machines I can take a camera phone picture and you can see what color the ink is but somehow it isn't official enough compared to a fax.

Think Medical fields (HIPAA), fax is more secure than an SMS message or email.

• Ash trays in cars. - I don't think I have had a car built in the last 10 - 15 years that came with an ashtray. Besides, some people still smoke, so not sure why they should be considered obsolete?
• wrist watch - I prefer to wear a watch rather than having to reach into my pocket and wake up my phone just to see the time / date.
• TV antenna - Some people don't have cable or satellite, believe it or not.
• CD's and disc of any kind - Not all cars are equipped for MP3 players or blutooth.

IMO,
-Seems like most people vape and those that still smoke really don't use their car ashtray. They usually flip it out the window.
-Same here, but a watch is basically jewelry to me these days.

-I realized this, but think all cars should go forward to disc free systems. Like cassette players it should no longer be an option for new cars.

They lose billions of dollars a year. Their cheap prices obviously aren't working out well for them.

Is it their prices or the pensions and wages they pay out that are drowning them?

I think I've still got 2 full books of them left. I haven't had a home phone since 2006 though.

This. I think as long as we have an older generation doing side work and owning their own businesses, we will need checks. That combined with paying fees for the convenience of being able to take plastic.

I write 2 checks a month. One for my storage unit and one for my lawn service

I always wore a watch until I started carrying a cell. I am obsessive about being punctual. I also really like watches, but the redundancy kills it for me. And I never really dress spiffy enough to justify a decently expensive one. I was usually satisfied with a $70 or so Fossil.

I won't order from people who ship usps.
The hit or miss on getting what I ordered is too big of a chance, not to mention I'll either have to wait for eternity to get it, or go to a fucking post office and wait in line.

I have not lost a package nd all of my items typically arrive within 3 days of their first tracking scan. Maybe I have been lucky. I have shipped several hundred items so far this year
