Also, how does a chain help you from losing a wallet? You still need to disconnect it and put it on counter somewhere? I always though the chain was to prevent pick pocketers.

I started carrying it in my front pocket after watching My Blue Heaven as a kid... harder to pick-pocket. And these days, my wallet is a Costanza edition, so having to sit on it would absolutely suck
