In my opinion, yes, as getting rid of part of the constitution would not be defending it. Sure it is technically legal to pass amendments that void any or every part of the document, but that still does not make it right. I think changing how senators are elected was a violation and a horrible thing as it changed the dynamics of the creation of laws. Yes technically it was legal to do, but it was wrong and I do believe those responsible should have been punished, but they are dead now and there isn't much we can do to them outside of spitting on their grave.

They made the decision to break the law. Don't want to go to prison, or be put on death row, or forced to fight to the death for sport? Don't murder innocent people. It is a beautifully simple concept. Look at me, right now, not murdering anyone. It is actually a very easy thing to do. There are consequences for breaking the rules, and ours as a society should be far more serious than they are.

I also am in favor of public lashings for less serious offenses such as theft.

Problem would rapidly become the same as it was in Rome. They ran out of Gladiators so they started rounding people up and charging them just to keep new blood in the arena. Anytime killing becomes a national pass time, you are at the end of a lifespan for a country

No, that would be a legal way to do it and the only legal way for the federal government or any government to have any say on firearms in the United States.
