It's an accomplishment, no doubt I'm just trying to tell you there's better ways of going about it. If you're going to take your tuner's advice why even come on here and ask for everyone else if you're just going to tell them they're wrong? Tons of these guys have built very similar combos - and several did it in high school too.Originally posted by Cobraman View PostLol. I took plenty of useful advice, but there was a lot of stupid advice as usual. I choose to listen to my tuner in most cases. What advice did I not take? I spent under $2500 all inclusive, which is pretty dang good. Not to mention I'm an 18yo that built and paid for his own kit, with only help from friends. What other eighteen year old built/paid for a car like this?
It worked perfectly. Of course the motor was gonna go, I knew that. Why do you think I posted up about a shortblock this week? It took months of me beating the piss out of it to break. 130k motor with boost? It's doomed.

haha its an expensive roadOriginally posted by 46Tbird View PostAnd so it begins.
nope, balancing and what not is just for higher hp precisions motors. I usually do it if I have the engine apart but thats not unless you want to start spending lots of $$Originally posted by Cobraman View PostDon't you need to have them balanced and stuff? Labor $$?
and what makes like 300hp.........Originally posted by vadertt View Post<-- 200k fox, stock long block, 12-15psi boost, ran for 5 years getting beaten daily.
ahhh some fox engines have forged pistons.Originally posted by Cobraman View PostI'd argue stronger motor. Those cars will take 500rw no prob. Simple less to break

I could be wrong, but I felt that there needed to be some clarification. If buying a factory short block you don't have to get it balanced as it was balanced from the factory. If you are rebuilding and you change any part of the rotating assembly you need to have the whole assembly re balanced.Originally posted by onemeangixxer7502 View Postnope, balancing and what not is just for higher hp precisions motors. Really? I've heard from several places that that was only to get it perfect.Originally posted by dville_gt View PostI could be wrong, but I felt that there needed to be some clarification. I think I'm going to rebuild my block with some used 03 cobra internals2012 GT500

Are you using the complete rotating assembly from the 03 and have the pistons and rods marked as far as which hole they came from? The assembly needs to be balanced as a complete assembly, if it was done from the factory then that's fine, but you cant mis-match parts and expect everything to be okay. Even 2 of the exact same pistons will weigh differently and can throw off the balance.Originally posted by Cobraman View PostReally? LOL, why?? And there are many that have travelled this road before you. The term "boom bitch" wasn't invented for boosted mod motors, but they perfected it.Originally posted by Cobraman View PostYour car has been my phone background for a while now!

Just depends Id say, the tolerances wouldn't be as close as if you balanced and blue printed all the partsOriginally posted by dville_gt View PostI could be wrong, but I felt that there needed to be some clarification. id just buy a shortblock if I was you but its your $Originally posted by Cobraman View PostReally? I've heard from several places that that was only to get it perfect.

meh, that cobra won't spin any sort of high rpms. most of my cars will rev 9000+ thats where you'd want it all baalanced and blue printed.Originally posted by dville_gt View Postmy be okay for a grocery getter, but for a high rpm boosted motor i'd say it is cheap insurance and should be considered
