  • '90 Chevy 305- Cheap hp increase options?

I'm completely in the dark about this chevy stuff. I figure there is some cheap heads/cam setup that will wake this thing up, but I've having trouble figuring everything out. I got the truck for free and had it maaco painted. I'd love to lower it a hair, put some 454 wheels on it, and get it a chunky cam. It is anemic right now and I think it would be a cool project.

I'll sell you a good 4-bolt main 350 (010 block) for $500. Complete intake to pan with most accessories.

    80's 305 = No Bueno.

              Your title would imply otherwise.

Your tbi setup won't make that power. You can get vortec heads and a conversion intake for it and it will help a good bit.

You could just trade it for a Foxbody Mustang

                      Electric Fan
                      U/D Pulleys
                      TB Spacer
Longtube Headers with Flowmaster Y-pipe merge in to Flowmaster dumped
                      1.6 Rocker Upgrade
                      MSD Coil
                      Royal Purple Oil
                      E3 Plugs
                      New wires

This is whats done to my 94 GMC & it gets up & goes from a dig! Of course mine is a 350 with a 4L60E trans & the 4L60 already has a 3.12 1st gear ratio in that trans combined with the 3.73 outback, This truck will lay a nice patch of rubber & sounds like its about something. But it runs out of steem around 3200 RPM. But the TBI motors are good solid motors

Probably one of the cheaper options is to swap in a 5.3

Mild cam, ported heads, and everything SEB just mentioned MIGHT get you somewhere close to the 250-280 hp range, assuming you're stock motor isn't clapped out and still makes close to 215.

That's what I have planned for my 94 actually, Just not anytime soon, I got some other projects I have to get finished up & sell a few cars & once I get my shop built, Its on like Donkey Kong, Going to do a 5.3 with Elec Waterpump & U/D Pulleys & Longube Headers & double my power. I already have the correct trans to bolt up to the 5.3. Just need the motor & computer & harness to make the harness work with my stock harness for lights & gauges
