Good luck doing whatever you end up doing mike. If you are going to fix it. Have it done at a qualified chassis shop. Do it right.

I have to say that I agree with turbostang the one thing the other forum lacked was any real tech. Most other half way decent forums around have good tech info and try to have a way to document that info for future searches. There are tons of other areas on this site to flame . With that being said when some one like mike posts all the fing time with really dumb questions I see the frustration

Well here's my tech bit then. Sure, you can fix this and you can also fix the bumper, etc. from your previous off road excursion. If you do it right, you will have $5,000-10,000 invested in a car that is worth $2,000 at most and it still won't be as good as stock. BTDT.

Start over with a straight chassis and this time don't drive like an asshole. There are places to drive fast and places not to, and you need to learn which is which.

BTW this is 'Jig Rigging' someone took a junkyard strut tower and turned into a spring perch and made it fit, as you can clearly see, the geometry is way fucking off. And the second pic, you can see a FORD spring perch and then installed correctly.

This how I do my work, you want cheap and fast then you will get the first picture.


BTW Im only posting my work and not soliciting you car as im not taking any new customers, good luck junior...

I believe Ford still sells the Strut tower ass., if not it can be had aftermarket., the old one will have to cut out and the new one re-welded in. You will also have to have a new strut, new knuckle, LCA, bearings, wheel. A few more things are bent im sure, but those will get you started. Might as well get a pair of struts and a pair of caster camber plates, because you will need some adjustment im sure.

This is the way to do it right, that bullshit about cutting off the top and re-welding sheet metal is called 'jig rigging' and will be a temporary fix, if you care about the car like you say you do, fix it right...
